غدا مصطلح "شعبويّة" شائعاً وحاضراً حضوراً طاغياً في الحِجاجات السياسيّة، ونجده أيضاً في كتابات الصحافيّين والباحثين.
ومع هذا، فإنّنا نواجه صعوبة في تعريفه وتأويله، وهذا ما يُفضي في بعض الأحيان إلى مُقارناتٍ مُلتبسة، وفي أزمنة الحمّى الشعبويّة الرّاهنة، بات تناول هذه الظاهرة بدقّةٍ وصرامة مسألة منحّة وحيويّة.
ما هي جذور الشعبويّة؟ يقدّم لنا المؤرّخون المعونة لفَهْم كيف نشأت هذه الظاهرة ولماذا بَرزت على شكلِ موجاتِ متتابعة منذ نهاية القرن التاسع عشر.
وثمّة مُقاربات علوم إجتماعيّة وسياسية وإقتصاديّة تَرد تباعاً لتكمِّل رسم مسار هذه الظاهرة وخلفيّاتها التاريخيّة.
