يسعى هذا الكتاب إلى دراسة الأزمة السورية التي تفجرت منذ أكثر من أربع سنوات، وكان واضحاً أن نظام بشار القمعي، تعمد التعامل معها بقسوته المعهودة، مكرراً أسلوب والده.
ولم يكن تعامل نظام بشار مع الأزمة عن جهل، بل كان على دراية تامة بالنهايات، ومع ذلك - وعلى الرغم من التشظي الذي بدأ يعتري الجيش والمجتمع في سوريا، وإجبار ملايين السوريين على العيش في دول الجوار، ومؤخراً شهدنا موجات هجرة سورية إلى أوروبا عبر البحر المتوسط، وغرق العديد منهم في مياه البحر.
استمر نظام بشار الأسد في شن الحرب على شعبه، وفتح المجال لوجود العصابات المسلحة، والتي يزيد عددها عن أربعين عصابة، آخرها داعش، وأخذ الصراع في سوريا الصبغة الدينية، وجاء التدخل الروسي العسكري ليحسم الأمور لصالح النظام، وليس شخص بشار الأسد الذي استدعاه الرئيس بوتين بعد تدخله عسكرياً في سوريا، لزيارة موسكو منفرداً ليسمعه الكلام المطلوب: بقاؤك في الحكم يحرجنا وسترحل، بعد أن كان يلفظ أنفاسه قبل التدخل الروسي العسكري.
