يُعنى كتاب حالة الاستثناء والمقاومة في الوطن العربي بدراسة أشكال الحاكمية، وخاصة في ما يتعلق بـ كيف يُحكم المواطن العربي، فهو لا يُحكم بالقانون، بل بحالة الاستثناء. وبالتالي يرصد الكتاب: كيف يتعامل المواطن العربي في ظل أوضاع يبدو فيها القانون الرسمي امتداداً لشرط الاستثناء.
لقد تضمّنت بحوث القسم الأول بعض أشكال الحاكمية، عبر استكشاف الأُطُر المختلفة لحالة الاستثناء، والبيوبوليتيك، وعني القسم الثاني بكيفية مقاومة أفراد المجتمع العربي لتقنيات سلطة الدولة، عن طريق تنظيم أنفسهم من خلال منظمات المجتمع المدني، وعن طريق حركات الاحتجاج المختلفة.
ويعالج الكتاب أسئلة محورية، منها: هل المجتمع المدني العربي قادر على المقاومة؟ وكيف يمكن أن تقاس قدرة المجتمع المدني على المقاومة بمدى استقلاليته وجماهيريته؟
كما يناقش الكتاب مفهوم اللاعنف في المقاومة باعتباره استراتيجية سياسية تتحدى آليات الهيمنة والسيطرة.
وفي مقتضى السياق تمّت دراسة حركات الاحتجاج غير المسيّسة / حالة الانعطاف الجديد في الثقافة في مصر، وسوسيولوجية اللامبالاة: دراسة في التعبيرات الصامتة لدى الشباب التونسي، وديناميات الصمود في وجه التدمير الممنهج للمكان الفلسطيني.
تسعة بحوث، في عمل فريقيّ، تؤسّس لفهم العلاقة، أو التقاطعات بين المستويات الثلاثة للسياسي: الحاكمية، والحكم، وحركات الاحتجاج اللامؤسساتية.
