يمر مجتمعنا اليوم بمرحلة من أخطر المراحل الخاصة في ظل التحديات والصعوبات التي تواجهه وظهور مفاهيم حديثة مثل مفهوم الذكاء الوجداني، فلقد ظل الإهتمام بالذكاء المعرفي مسيطراً على الأذهان والباحثين لعقود طويلة من الزمن، في حين بقي مجال وعي الفرد بذاته وإدراكه لمهاراته الوجدانية والإجتماعية بعيداً كل البعد عن مجال الدراسات الإنسانية، ولكن سرعان ما لبث أن تغير الإهتمام، وأصبح التركيز ينصب على المشاعر والإنفعالات لما لها من أهمية متزايدة في حياة الفرد.
وذلك حينما قدم "ماير وسالوفي" مصطلح الذكاء الوجداني في بداية التسعينات، منتقداً بشدة الذكاء المعرفي، ولهذا لم يعد الذكاء قاصراً على الأفراد الذين يحصلون على درجات مرتفعة في إختبارات الذكاء المعرفية، بل أصبح يشمل مهارات أخرى مثل الوعي بالذات، وضبط الإنفعالات، والدافعية، والتعاطف والمهارات الإجتماعية بوصفها تمثل المكونات الأساسية للذكاء الوجداني.
ولم تقتصر أهمية الذكاء الوجداني على المجال التربوي وحده فحسب، بل امتدت لتشمل مجالات أخرى مثل مجالات الأسرة والعمل وغيرها، وفي ظل هذه الأهمية الكبيرة للذكاء الوجداني وتطبيقاته الكثيرة في العديد من المجالات كان لا بد من الإهتمام به حيث توجد ندرة على الساحة العربية في هذا المجال، ولذلك جاءت فكرة هذا الكتاب الذي يقدم التأصيل النظري للذكاء الوجداني وتطبيقاته في مجال القيادة التربوية.
وبناءً عليه، تم تقسيم الكتاب إلى ستة فصول وفق ما يلي: الفصل الأول تحدث عن الذكاء الوجداني تاريخه ومفهومه والثاني تحدث عن نظريات الذكاء الوجداني وأبعاده والثالث تحدث عن القيادة التربوية الفعالة والفصل الرابع تحدث عن الذكاء الوجداني والمنظومة التربوية والخامس تحدث عن الذكاء الوجداني والفعالية التنظيمية للمؤسسات التربوية وأخيراً الفصل السادس تحدث عن الذكاء الوجداني وسلوكيات القيادة الفعالة.
