الأستاذ الدكتور ياسين خليل هو أكاديمي وإداري وسياسي عراقي ذو توجه قومي اشتراكي، ولد في بغداد سنة 1934 وتوفي في 3 أيار 1986.
نشاطه العلمي
حصل على الدكتوراه من جامعة مونستر الألمانية وأطروحته كانت عن "فلسفة كارناب".
عمل أستاذا للمنطق الرياضي وفلسفة العلوم في قسم الفلسفة في كلية الآداب في جامعة بغداد، فهو أستاذ الفلسفة المعاصرة، وهو من أوائل الأساتذة العراقيين الذين تخصصوا في فلسفة العلوم والمنطق الرياضي، وقد عمل في قسم الفلسفة منذ سنة 1964 وترأس قسم الفلسفة سنوات عدة كما عمل أستاذا للمنطق الرياضي وفلسفة العلوم في كلية آداب الجامعة الليبية، وأشرف على العديد من طلبة الماجستير والدكتوراه خلال مسيرته التدريسية.
عمل مديرا لمركز إحياء التراث العلمي العربي في بغداد عن تأسيسه سنة 1977، وقد باشر المركز أعماله في 12 شباط 1977.
تشاطه السياسي
شغل منصب وزير دولة لشؤون الشباب في وزارة عبد الرحمن عارف سنة 1967. وبتاريخ 13 كانون الثاني 1968، عين في وزارة طاهر يحيى الرابعة وزيرا لرعاية الشباب بدلا من الوزير المستقيل عبد الهادي الراوي.

يأتي هذا الكتاب في سياق مشروع تعريف بالفيلسوف العراقي المبدع "ياسين خليل" وإبراز دوره، ونشر تراثه العلمي والفلسفي بصورة محققة، تكون بين أيدي الباحثين والدارسين، إضافة إلى المتخصصين في حقل الفلسفة والعلم والتراث العلمي العربي وغير ذلك من الموضوعات التي ألف فيها هذا الفيلسوف.
توزع الكتاب على مقدمة وثلاثة أقسام وفصول وخاتمة تصب جميعها في موقف "ياسين خليل" ودراسته لمصادر التراث العلمي العربي والدراسات الإنسانية والعلم الرياضي والتعريف بمؤلفاته ومضمونها وأهميتها للدارسين.
في المقدمة تناول المحقق "العبيدي" السيرة والإنجاز العلمي والحضور الفكري لياسين، وفي القسم الأول تحدث عن مصادر التراث العلمي العربي ومنها: المصدر البابلي والمصري واليوناني والهيلنستي وغيرها، وفي القسم الثاني تحدث عن: الدراسات الإنسانية ومنها: الدراسات اللغوية، والتاريخية، والدراسات الفلسفية والمنطقية. وفي القسم الثالث والأخير تحدث عن: العلم الرياضي ومنه: علم الحساب وعلم الجبر وعلم الهندسة.
