إن قضية إستخدام المنهج العلمي في حل المشكلات الإنسانية قد ألقى بظلاله على معظم مناشط الحياة الإنسانية بوصفه أداة لتوليد الأفكار والحقائق الجديدة لإكتشاف القوانين والنظريات والظواهر، وبالشكل الذي جعله منطلقاً للوثوب إلى سلم الحضارة والبناء الإجتماعي والتنمية.
وهذا الكتاب هو مدخل لأساليب ومناهج البحث العلمي في حقل العلوم الإنسانية، والذي حرص المؤلف أن يكون مختزلاً في كلماته ومعالجته، بالشكل الذي يلبي الحاجة إلى التعرّف على المبادئ الأساسية لإنجاز البحوث التي تتطلبها المرحلة الجامعية الدولية.
وقد تألف الكتاب، من خمسة أبواب، ضمّ الأول مفاهيم البحث العلمي الأساسية، بواقع ستة فصول، تناولت في محتواها التطور التاريخي للمعرفة العلمية، وبعض المفاهيم المرتبطة بالتفكير والعلم وشروطه، أما الباب الثاني فقط سلط الضوء على أسس مناهج البحث العلمي، والباب الثالث بفصوله الخمسة تناول الأدوات الأساسية في عملية جمع المعلومات لبناء وتشكيل الإطار النظري والميداني، أما الباب الرابع فقد سلط الضوء على أنواع العينات وطرق إستخراجها، فيما جاء الباب الخامس متناولاً مراحل للبحث العلمي (خطواته الأساسية)، إعتباراً من الإحساس بالمشكلة، حتى الوصول إلى النتائج وصياغتها.
