من المؤكد أن المجتمعات والدول والكيانات السياسية تتعرض للكثير من التطورات والتغيرات السياسية آما نتيجة للتفاعلات الداخلية التي يتصف بها كل المجتمعات عبر العصور، أو نتيجة لعوامل خارجية ولكن يظل العامل الأكثر حسماً هو العامل الداخلي وبشكل أكثر وضوحاً القيادات تتصدر المشهد اللسياسي بسبب قوتها الذاتية وإنتمائها الوطني الصادق، أو نتيجة لعوامل خارجية، وهذه ظاهرة عاشتها جميع الدول العربية، وبشكل خاص نتيجة للعامل الخارجي، مع عدم إهمال العوامل الداخلية.
وفي هذا السياق لا بد من القول إلى أن سلطنة عمان بما تمثله من بعد حضاري وسياسي وموقع إستراتيجي جعلها محط أنظار الباحثين، الراغبين في الإستفادة من خلال الوقوف على مكانة هذه الدولة عبر مختلف العصور التي مرت وتمر بها المنطقة العربية بشكل خاص والمنطقة المحيطة بالوطن العربي بشكل عام ومن ثم فلا بد من الوفاء لهذه الدولة العميقة في التاريخ، ومن ثم فقد اجتهدت وتطوعت لتناول هذه المسألة وفاء لوطني الذي اعتز بالإنتماء إليه ألا وهو سلطنة عمان.
