مجموعةٌ من أربع أوراقٍ بحثيّة، كتبها الباحثُ اليابانيّ الراحل توشيهيكو إيزوتسو، وتمثلُ الدراسة المقارنة الأفضل لمفهوم "الوجود" في الفلسفة الشرقيّةِ والأوروبيّة، وقد كتبت أولاً في الأعوام 1968- 1970م، وتُركِّزُ على موضوع مفهوم الوجود وحقيقته مثُلما أحكمت دراستُه في مرحلة ما بعد المغول من حياة الفلسفة الإسلامية.
ويحاول المؤلف أن يوضح ويختصر "رُوح العِرُفان"، وهو نمطٌ من الميتافيزيقا تطور في فارس في صورة جمع بين التصوف والتفكير العقلاني.
والمقالةُ الرابعةُ عن الميتافيزيقا، وقد ظهرت أصلاً في صورة مدخل إلى "شرح المنظومة" الذي كتبه الفيلسوف الإيرانيُّ البارزُ في القرن التاسع عشر هادي السَّبْزَواريّ، تُعَدُّ واحدةَ من الدراسات الأكثر عُمْقاً للميتافيزيقا الإسلاميّة لدى الفيلسوف الأكبر في فارس، صدرِ الدّين الشِّيرازي.
أمّا توشيهيكو إيزوتسو، مُؤلِّفُ الكتاب، فقد كان باحثاً يابانيّاً معروفاً في الإسلام، ودرّسَ في جامعة كِيُو (1954- 1968م)، وفي جامعة مكجل في مونتريال (كندا)، وفي المعهد الملكي لدراسة الفلسفة في طهران (إيران)، وكان أستاذاً مُتقاعداً Professor Emeritus في جامعة كِيُو وعضواً في الأكاديميّة اليابانيّة.
كان مجالُ دراساتِ إيزوتسو واسعاً، ويُنسَبُ إليه أكثرُ من ثلاثينَ عملاً عِلْمياً باليابانيّةِ والإنكليزيّة، تُظهِرُ كلُّها فَذاذةَ تفكيرِه من خلال إنشاءِ مُناقشات نظريّةِ معقّدة.
وكان المُكمِّلَ لهذه الألمعيّةِ إتقانُه أكثرَ من عشرينَ لغةً، بينها: العِبرْيَةُ والفارسيّةُ والصِّينيّةُ والترّكيّةُ والسَنسكريتيّةُ والعربيّة، إضافةً إلى عددٍ كبيرٍ من اللغاتِ الأوروبيّةِ الحديثة، في عام 1958م، أكملَ ترجمة القرآن الكريم، لأِوَلِ مرّةٍ مُباشَرةَ مِن العربيّة إلى اليابانيّة.
