يعتبر إخراج هذا المؤلف "تفسير القرآن" للإمام الصنعاني بمثابة إحياء للتراث الإسلامي، إلى جانب ذلك فإن هذا التفسير جدير بالاهتمام والعناية لأهميته. وتكمن أهميته في الأمور التالية: 1-تقدم عصر مؤلفه، فقد توفي الصنعاني عام 211هـ أي أنه متقدم على ابن جرير بقرن كامل. توفي ابن جرير عام 310هـ. 2-إن تفسير الإمام عبد الرزاق قد وصل مسنداً من غير تحريف وتبديل. 3-وإن التفسير يعطينا صورة عن لون التفسير في هذا العصر، حيث كان طابع التفسير بالمأثور هو السائد، ولا شيء غيره، كما أن الأسانيد كانت هي العمدة في النقل، وكان يكتفي في التفسير بما ثبت لدى المفسر من أقوال مرفوعة إلى الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، أو مسندة إلى الصحابة والتابعين، ولم يكن المفسر يتكلف تفسير كل كلمة أو كل آية، كما أن التفسير اللغوي أو النحوي لم يكن منتشراً. 4-إن مكانة الإمام عبد الرزاق في علم الرواية، وهو إمام موثوق، يضفي على هذه الأقوال التي أوردها في تفسيره قيمة علمية كبيرة.
