اسم الكتاب هو المصنف، ويقال له: الجامع الكبير، ولا ريب في نسبته للإمام عبد الرزاق، فقد اشتهر وانتشر بين علماء الأمة وتداولوه، وكان من الكتب الهامة التي ألفت في الحديث النبوي الشريف، وجاء مبوباً كغيره من هذا العلم على أبواب الفقه، ولأهمية الكتاب عني بتحقيقه وشملت عملية التحقيق ما يلي: ترجمة الإمام عبد الرزاق، رواة المصنف، اسم الكتاب وصحة نسبته للمؤلف، وصف نسخ الكتاب، ضبط نص الكتاب، سنداً ومتناً بالرجوع إلى كتب الحديث والرجال واللغة، ضبط بعض الألفاظ المشكلة في المتن، شرح توضيح للألفاظ الغريبة، الضبط بالشكل لبعض الرواة ترجمة بعض الرواة، تخريج الآيات القرآنية، تخريج الأحاديث المرفوعة، وبعض الآثار وترقيم الكتب الفقهية، والأبواب والأحاديث والآثار، مع ترقيم للأحاديث المرفوعة.
