ليست الغربة مجرّد موضوع يتناوله الشعر، بل إنَّها بنية جوهريَّة في النسيج الشعريّ، فالشعر العظيم يبدأ من الغربة وينتهي بالغرابة، وما المجاوزة او الإنزياح أو العدول إلا مظاهر لإغتراب اللغة عن نفسها، بل إنَّ المحورين اللذين تدور حولهما الشعريَّة وهما الإختيار والتوزيع قائمان على فكرة الإغتراب، فالإختيار يقوم بإصطفاء خيار واحد في مقابل تغريب الخيارات الأخرى، والتوزيع يجاوز بين عناصر لغويَّة متغاربة؛ ومن هنا ينتج الأثر الجماليّ.
وعلى هذا تكون الدراسات التي تناولت الغربة في الشعر مضمونيّاً هي دراسات عقيمة، وليس لها في النقد الأدبيِّ من حظّ، والأولى لها أن تكون تاريخاً أو دراسات نفسية أو إجتماعية أو غير ذلك مما يكتبون، وأمَّا الغربة في الشعر فهي تجري فيه مجرى الدم في الجسد؛ إذ هي حاضرة في كلِّ جزء منه، تبثُّ فيه الحياة، وتمنحه التماسك والبقاء، وما إن نفصد عِرْقاً من عروق الشعر حتى تنزف الغربةُ معلنةً حضورَها الكلِّيّ.
ولمَّا كان حضور الغربة في الشعر حضوراً كليّاً وجب دراستُها في وحدتها البنيويَّة التي لا تفرِّق بين شكل ومضمون، فكان المعجم في الفصل الأوَّل جسداً للشعر والغربة في وقت واحد، فكانت كلُّ مفردة أو حقلٍ في المعجم كالخليَّة أو العضو في ذلك الجسد، ثُمَّ كان التركيب في الفصل الثاني روحاً للشعر والغربة في آن معاً، فكان كلُّ تركيب ينظَّم اللغة باثاً فيها الحياة، ثُمَّ جاءت الصورة في الفصل الثالث نتاجاً لزواج الجسد المخلوق والروح المنفوخ، ليكتسب الكائن الشعريُّ خصوصيته وتميُّزه.
