هذا إيجاز بالغ التبسيط لأفكار مالتوس العميقة والغنية، التي يتضمنها هذا الكتاب، من يستطيع أن ينفي أن ليس للإضطرابات الراهنة بعداً ديمغرافياً واضحاً، وهذه الهجرة من الجنوب إلى الشمال ما هي إلا تعبير عن الفائض السكاني النسبي في دول الجنوب مقارنة مع النقص السكاني النسبي أيضاً في دول الشمال، وما الحروب والإضطرابات التي ترزح تحت وطأتها دول الجنوب إلا لتسهيل عملية الإنزياح السكاني من الجنوب إلى الشمال، التي تشبه مخاض الولادة الطبيعية.
هذه قراءة مالتوسية للمشهد العربي والأفريقي عموماً، يشي بها هذا الكتاب، الذي تقدمه دار الفرقد للقارئ العربي آملة أن يكون أداة مفيدة للباحث، ومادة معرفية مفيدة للقارئ العام.
