تناول هذه الدراسة (الحركة الفكرية والثقافية في المنطقة الشرقية من المملكة العربية السعودية).
وتقتصر الدراسة - هنا - على (المنطقة الشرقية) وهي أكبر مناطق المملكة مساحة على الإطلاق، إذ تشكل ثلث المساحة العامة للمملكة، وهي المنطقة التي تضم (صحراء الربع الخالي) أكبر الصحاري في الجزيرة العربية، و (المنطقة الشرقية) ثالث مناطق المملكة من حيث عدد السكان بعد منطقتي (مكة المكرمة) و (الرياض) بحسب تقديرات وزارة التخطيط العام 1405هـ - 1985م، حيث قدر عدد سكانها أنذاك بنحو مليوني نسمة.
ولعل موقع المنطقة الجغرافي على إمتداد الشاطئ الغربي للخليج العربي سهّل على إتصال أهلها بالأمم والشعوب الأخرى، فتمازجت معها، وأدى ذلك إلى تلاقح الثقافات بينها وتلك الشعوب، فقد كانوا يقطعون البحار، ويجوبون الآفاق، وكانت المنطقة موفداً لتلك الأمم على إختلاف أجناسها، وكان لذلك الأثر الكبير في نشاط الحركة الثقافية والفكرية والعلمية في هذه المنطقة من الجزيرة العربية.
