عزيزي القارئ أن هذا الكتاب الذي قال فيه المنظر الأول لسياسات الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية هنري كسنجر أنه "احد أهم الكتب التي نشرت منذ نهاية الحرب العالمية الثانية"، قد وجدنا أن ترجماته السابقة وقعت في هنات أفسدت المعنى في كثير من مواضعة بل غالباً ما كانت تقلب المعنى قلباً حتى أنها حولت النفي إلى الإثبات والإثبات إلى نفي.
هذا علاوة على أخطاء كثيرة في أسماء الدول والمدن والأرقام والتاريخ، مما حث المترجم على الإجتهاد والبحث لكي يضع المعنى في نصابه واضعاً نصب ناظري مسؤولية الأمانة، وبين ما يرى قد يكون غامضاً على القارئ في هوامش أضفتها، ولقد صفف الكتاب بطريقة تُسهل عمل من يريد أن يعود إلى الأصل ليطابق ويراجع الأصل، وكذلك من الذي يجد فيه خطاً سقط منه سهواً ان يتصل بدار النشر على الهاتف المذكور على الغلاف.
في سنة 1993، نشرت الصحيفة الرائدة الشؤون الخارجية مقالاً عنوانه "إصطدام الحضارات؟" كتبها الأستاذ "صامؤيل هنتغتون" الذي يدرس في جامعة هارفرد، وحسبما قاله محرروا الصحيفة، فقد ظل هذا المقال يثير نقاشاً أكثر من أي مقال نشره منذ نهاية الحرب العالمية الثانية.
وفي ذلك المقال، طرح "هنتغتون" قضية ما إذا كانت النزاعات بين الحضارات ستطغي على السياسات العالمية أم لا، وجاء هذا الكتاب ليقدم الإجابة، حتى أنه لم يُّبين إلى أي مدى تكون الإصطدامات بين الحضارات هي الخطر الأعظم على الأطلاق على السلام العالمي فحسبل بل ويصف وصفاً واضحاً إلى أي مدى يكون نظام عالمي يقوم على أساس الحضارات هو الملاذ الأمن الأضمن من الحرب.
فمنذ 11/أيلول، قد أمست هذه الأطروحة ذات بصيرة وذكاء أكثر بكثير مما كانت تبدو عليه، وتعتبر الآن أطروحة "إصطدام الحضارات وإعادة بناء النظام العالمي" بأنها دراسة ممتارة للعلاقات الدولية في عالم غامض ومتقلب غموضاً وتقلباً بنحو يزداد أكثر فأكثر.
