صموئيل شمعون، كاتب وصحافي عراقي، ولد في الحبانية عام 1956.
عام 1998 أسس مع زوجته مارغريت أوبانك مجلة "بانيبال" الفصلية التي تعنى بترجمة الادب العربي الى الانكليزية، كما أنشأ عام 2004 موقع كيكا الثقافي.
عام 2005 اصدر روايته الاولى "عراقي في باريس" التي لاقت نجاحا كبيرا وترجمت إلى لغات عديدة.
يقيم حالياً في لندن، بريطانيا.

هذه المجموعة القصصية الصادرة عن دار AKASHIC الأميركية في نيويورك، وهي سلسلة رائعة من المجاميع القصصية في الجنس الأدبي نوار، والكلمة تعني بالفرنسية أسود، وهو جنس خاص بأدب الجريمة وطريقة كشفها، أطلقت في العام 2004 مع بروكلين نوار، يتألف كل كتاب من مجموعة قصص لأفضل كتاب المدينة وكل جريمة تحدث في حي من أحيائها.
قصص النوار هي التي تبحث في الجانب المظلم من النفس البشرية، ومنها الجريمة، وإختلاف قصص النوار عن قصص أو روايات الجريمة الكلاسيكية هي أدبيتها، فهي أرفع بكثير من قصص الجريمة العادية التي ولدت من أكشاك الجرائد، فالأخيرة تعتقد أن شخصاً ما مجرماً يخل بالنظام الإجتماعي، يقابله شخص ذكي يصل عبر التحقيق إلى كشف المجرم وعودة النظام والسلم إلى المجتمع، بينما قصص النوار تعتقد أن الخلل في المجتمع، وتعتمد على التحليل النفسي والأنثربولوجي، وهو عمل يكتنفه الغموض والخفاء والترقب.
وكتب هذا النوع كبار الكتاب منهم دستيوفسكي قبل ظهوره كجنس أدبي في سلسلة نوار في باريس.
وقد دأبت دار النشر الأميركية أكاشيك على طبع قصص من جميع العواصم والمدن تحت سلسلة نوار... ومنها بغداد نوار.
بعد صدور بغداد نوار بالإنكليزية كتبت عنه الصحافة الأميركية بأنه من أهم الكتب التي صدرت في هذا النوع.
