فلما كان من أشرف العلوم وأعلاها ولما كان من أهم ما يلزم لطالبيه كما قرره الأئمة الثقات: معرفة الأصول الدائرة على اختلاف القراءات. عن لي أن أجمع في ذلك من رياض القراء الأفاضل ثمرات يانعة، فاستخرت الله تعالى وجمعت هذه النبذة اللطيفة التي هي- إن شاء الله تعالى- مباركة نافعة وسميتها: (الإضاءة في بيان أصول القراءة) ورتبتها إلى مقدمة مقصد وخاتمة. (فالمقدمة) في فوائد مهمة يحتاج القارئ إلى معرفتها (والمقصد) في بيان أصول القراءة المطلوب العلم بها. والخاتمة في أصول كل قراءة على حدتها. حسبما تضمنته الشاطبية، والقصيدة الجزرية المعروفة بالدرة المضية.
