الأحداث العصبية التي وقعت على البحرين خلال القرنين الثامن عشر والتاسع عشر حولت أغلب قرى ومدى البحرين إلى أطلال مهجورة مما نتج عن ذلك تهجير أغلب سكانها الذين تشتتوا في سائر الأمصار والبلدان، ولعل أبرز تلك الفترات المظلمة هي التي ذكرها وعاصرها الشيخ يوسف البحراني وأسماها بفترة خراب البحرين والتي تم خلالها إحراق البحرين ثلاث مرات فلم تسلم القرى والنخيل والسفن.
قبل الخراب كانت البحرين جزيرة أمنة مزدهرة بالحياة والعمران وتشتهر بكثرة القرى والمدن والمدارس، ولكن الأحداث المؤسفة خلفت قرى ومدنا مهجورة لم يتمّ توثيقها تاريخيّاً حتى يومنا.
هذا البحث يسلط الضوء على قرية الفارسية المهجورة وهي نموذجاً لأكثر من مئتي قرية ومدينة مهجورة اختفت آثارها تحت الرمال أو تمّ جرفها وطمسها من خارطة البحرين.
