لذلك يشكل هؤلاء الثلاثة المحطات الرئيسة التي توقف عندها المؤلف في دراسته للنشوء وتطور هذا المفهوم القديم الجديد، إذ يعود للظهور بقوة خارج مجال علم النفس والتحليل النفسي، وخاصة في النقد الأدبي، ليدلل على قوة تأثير التحليل النفسي في النقد المعاصر جنباً إلى جنب مع المؤثرات الأخرى الموازية حيناً والمعاكسة حيناً آخر، والتي عرفها النقد في تاريخه الحديث.
وإضافة إلى الأقطاب الثلاثة الذين تمحور حولهم الكتاب فإنه يتطرق إلى أسماء أخرى كانت لها مساهماتها وإجتهاداتها في إغناء معاني ودلالات مفهوم الجنسانية، من أهمهم كرافت إبيتغ، جورج باتاي، جيل دولوز، فيلكس غواتاري، وجوديث بتلر وغيرهم.
