في هذا الكتاب يأخذنا الأستاذ سعيد رشيد زميزم لنحلِّق في فضاء إيماني نتعرف من خلاله على رجال تحلقوا حول الإمام علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه، يسرد علينا سيرتهم الشخصية والنضالية، تلك السيرة الوضاءة لهؤلاء الرجال الأجلاء الذين وقفوا مع أمير المؤمنين وصحبوه في حلّه وترحاله وشاركوه في حروبه ضد أعدائه وساندوه في القرارات التي اتخذها، وأداروا معه شؤون الدولة الإسلامية وخاصة عندما نقل رسالته إلى مدينة الكوفة، وسيلته في ذلك ما صدر في أمهات الكتب المعتبرة كتاريخ الطبري، والكامل في التاريخ، ونهج البلاغة، وغيرها من أحاديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأمير المؤمنين والأئمة عليهم السلام.
ولهذا الغرض نقع في الكتاب (121) شخصية ساندت الإمام، ترجم لهم المؤلف ولسيرتهم الدعوية، وعرض لكواليس ما حدث معهم في حلهم وترحالهم وحروبهم في سبيل رفعة الإسلام والتي هي تعبير مهم عن التضحيات الرائعة التي قامها آل البيت عليهم السلام خلال تاريخهم الطويل.
ومن هؤلاء الرجال يذكر المؤلف إبراهيم بن مالك الأشتر وأبو أشمر الحميري، وأبو الأسود الدؤلي وأبو أيوب الأنصاري وأبو ليلى الأنصاري والحارث بن همام النخعي، وحجر بن عدي وأروى بنت الحارث وخزيمة بن ثابت وذؤيب الهمداني... وآخرون.
