ظلّ التاريخ العماني القريب هو الحلم الداني النائي عن المثقف العماني، والمهتم بالتاريخ العماني، ولولا تناقلُهُ في الذاكرة الشفهية، وما تفرق منه في بعض المصادر الشحيحة، لظنّ البعضُ أنّ عُمان دولةٌ هامشيّة في التاريخ؛ أو ناشئة في المشهد الحضاري، ولا أستطيعُ أنْ أجزم أنّ هنالك عملية تغييب مُتعمدة للتاريخ العماني، أو أنّ عدم كفاية الوعي المجتمعي للإنسان العماني، هي أهم مسببات غياب التاريخ العماني القريب عن المشهد الثقافي والفكري العماني، ذلك لأنني وجدْتُ بعض الدراسات الأكاديمية قام بها بعضُ الباحثيين غير العُمانين، غير أني قد أُوافق أنّ نشوء وبناء السلطنة السياسي نشأة وبناء حديثاً بعد عام 1970 احتاج لفترة التقاط أنفاسٍ ليظهر بعدَهُ الباحثون العمانيون وتقصيهم لهذا التاريخ المهم.
شخصياً كنتُ ممن يعانون من شحّ المعرفة بهذا التاريخ القريب، وربما ذات صباحٍ من عام 2007م، قرأتُ في سوائح الشبكات المعلوماتية اسم الأستاذ ناصر العتيقي وبحثه المهم عن الأوضاع السياسية في عمان بين عامي 1932- 1954م حينها لم أقرأ غير الخبر، ولم أكن أعلمُ أنّ الألطاف الإلهية تُهيِّؤ لي أنْ ألتقي أ. ناصر العتيقي ويهديني بحثه القيّم مرقونا.
يا إلهي... ما هذا الجمال، هكذا تنفّستُ وآفاق التاريخ العماني تنفتحُ لي من خلال ذلك البحثِ والقيَم، حتى قضيتُ ليلتي ولم أكن أعلم أنّ منتصف الليل انحدر إلى السَحَرِ، وأنا أشرب وأشرإبُ بالتاريخ العماني يرويه لي بحثُ الأستاذ ناصر العتيقي.
أنا على ثقة تامة أنّ هذا البحث، وإنْ تأخر صدورُهُ سيجدُ من المتلقي العمانيّ كل الحفاوة والترحاب والتقدير، كونه من أوائل البحوث التي غطّت هذه المرحلة العمانية، وبما امتاز به من دقة وحياد وشفافية.
