تناولت هذه الدراسة الرواة الذين تعقبهم الإمام الذهبي على الأئمة بقوله بلا حجة، وغير حجة، وبلا مستند ، وأبهم من تعقبهم من خلال كتابه الميزان، وتعرضت فيه لتعريفٍ مختصرٍ بالإمام الذهبي، وبالتعقب لغةً واصطلاحًا، واجتهدت في معرفة الراجح من المرجوح من قول الإمام الذهبي مع من تعقبه من الأئمة في كل راوٍ من هؤلاء الرواة، من خلال دراسة نقدية مقارنة بين قوله، وأقوال النقاد الآخرين، ومن ثم وضعت خلاصةً لكل راوٍ من الرواة تبين حكم الراوي على ما أراه راجحًا، سواء كان الراجح من أحد قوليهما، أو قول غيرهما من النقاد، بعبارة مختصرة واضحة، وكان ذلك كله من بعد دراسة نقدية مقارنة لكل ما ذُكر في كل راوٍ من هؤلاء الرواة، والذين بلغ عددهم سبعة رواة، ومعرفة الأئمة الذين أبهمهم الإمام الذهبي بتعقبه، وختمت البحث بخاتمة اشتملت على أهم النتائج والتوصيات
