في روايته "بلقّيسْ" يتجه علاوة كوسة نحو مفهوم الشعرية في الرواية؛ فلغة الرواية تتقاطع مع اللغة الشعرية، وتقترب من الكلام المنظوم، الذي يتفق عنه لغة ذات تكثيف مجازي واستعاري، هذا، فضلاً عن الإيقاع في السرد والقدرة على تضمين الحوار بين الشخوص الكثير من الإيحاء والإيماء الذي تتصف به لغة الشعر.
وبلقيس علاوة كوسة لا تشبه نظيراتها من بلقيس سبأ، أو بلقيس نزار قباني، بلقيس علاوة كوسة عاشقة للبحر والمدن ولخليل، "المدينة والبحر .. قلت لي يوماً بأن لك مع البحر حسابات قديمة .. وإنك أودعته أسرارك ولا بد يوماً أن ترد الودائع ../ لكن كان عليك أن تصطحبني إلى هناك .. أخشى على أحد كما من الآخر ..." وهكذا يسيطر الفضاء الأزرق على بنية النص الروائي، خاصة إذا ما علمنا أن مكان كتابته هو "جيجل" ، أما المكان المكتوب عنه فهو مدينة ساحلية غير محددة – قد تكون جيجل نفسها أو عنابة أو تيبازة (الجزائر) زيادة على مدينة الروائي، وهي "سطيف" فالنص يرتحل مع علاوة كوسة أينما ارتحل، ولهذا تداخلت فيه الجغرافيا مع التاريخ الشخصي، والتاريخ العام.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
" .. أذكر أنك أودعت البحر أسرارك يا خليل .. وأسراري .. ولم تحدثه عن حسابات قديمة .. لا وقت لك .. وأذكر أننا عدنا إلى الإقامة عودة تائهين إلى الجنة، وعبرنا إلى حقيقنا .. عبور المطهرين إلى الفردوس .. لأننا قررنا .. أن نحترم ذاكرتنا .. ولكن قررنا ايضاً أن نحسن التعامل معها .. ودفنا جراحنا .. إلى الأبد .. وبدأنا نذكر كيف نعيش أفكارنا .. في الواقع والحقيقة ...".
