لكأن في هذا البحث التاريخي السياسيّ العلميّ الدقيق الذي يكشف بدايات حركتي فتح وحماس، ثمّ التحوّلات الفكرية والسياسية التي شهدتها الحركتان بالإتجاه عينه، شيئاً من ملامسة لمذهب فلسفة التاريخ، وإذا كانت التحوّلات الكبيرة في الوثيقة السياسية لحماس، لم تبلغ حدود التبدلات الجذرية التي أخذتها القيادات الإخوانية الشابّة في غزّة قبل ستة عقود، يوم قرّرت تأسيس فتح، فإن خياراتها السياسية المتجدّدة من شأنها أن تفتح الباب أمام منعطفات جديدة ستتحكم بها مجريات السياسات الكبرى في منطقة الشرق الأدنى.
يُظهِر هذا الكتاب الذي يستعيد أحداثاً وحركيات شديدة الأهمية عن نشأة فتح وحماس - بعضها يُنشّر للمرّة الأولى نتيجة جهد شخصي للمؤلّف الذي عايش العديد من الآباء المؤسّسين لهما - طوتها الأحداث الكبيرة التي عرفتها المنطقة، تأثيرَ الظروف السياسية واللاعبين الكبار على الخيارات العقائدية والسياسية للحركات السياسية، وخير تعبير عن ذلك الفكرة التي تزعّمها أبو جهاد ورفاقه ذات يوم: "إذا بقينا ننادي بالإسلام، فإننا نعرّض أنفسنا لنقمة جمال عبد الناصر، وغيره من الزعماء العرب، بل والعالم أجمع، أما إذا نادينا بتحرير فلسطين، فإنّ جميع العرب سيقفون إلى جانبنا".
