بدت هذه الأبحاثُ الثلاثة التي كوَّنت (غيوم السّرَد) في هذا الكتاب ذات دلالة خاصَّة بما يربطها جميعاً من وحدة المكان، وآفاق الغيم الذي أضحى أيقونةُ للجمال، وعلامةُ من علامات مدينة الغيم والضباب (أبها البهيّةِ) عاصمة منطقة عسير، وأجمل مناطق الجنوب سياحةً، وطبيعةً، وإنساناً، وبَدتْ فيها تلك الغيومُ السّرَدية متعالقةً مع روح إنسانها الجبليّ، ومتعانقةً مع غيوم مكانها الأزليّ: غيوم السُّودَةِ، ودَلَغان، والفَرعاء، والحَبَلَة، ورجال ألمع وغيرها من الاماكن الحالمة النابضة، ومتوالدة منها وفيها بما يبدعه كاتبُ القَصصِ المندمج من ذلك المعنى التخيُّلي، والنابت من هذا الأفق الواقعي، وبما يحمله الغيمُ من دلالات الخصب، والنقاء، والسّمو، والحكايات.
فكانت هذه الأبحاث التي قَارَبتْ شعريَّة اللغة في القصة القصيرة جداً، وتناولت بناء الشَّخصية في القصة القصيرة النَّسائية، ورصدت الموروث الثقافي في قصص محمد علوان.
