الميروقى هو ابو العباس أحمد بن على بن أبى بكر بن عيسى بن محمد بن زياد العبدرى الميروقى من أهل الطائف، أصله من المغرب، ثم كان مسكنه بوج الطائف مدة سنين وبها توفى، وقد أسهم الميروقى بنشاطه الثقافى والفكرى وإن كان محددآ فى الحياة الثقافية بالطائف فى القرن السابع الهجرى، وكان أهم ما قدمه لمدرسة التاريخ بالطائف كتابه "بهجه المهج فى بعض فضائل الطائف ووج" وهو الذى نقدم له اليوم، وقد جاء عنوانه هكذا فى طرة بعض النسخ التى صلت إلينا، وكذلك سماه المؤرخون اللاحقون، ومنهم على سبيل المثال الفاسى فى "شفاء الغرام" وبن فهد فى " تحفة للطائف فى فضائل الحبر ابن عباس ووج والطائف" والعجيمى فى "إهداء اللطائف من أخبار الطائف".
