تتعرض هذه الرواية لحياة بعض الأسر فى أحد الأحياء الشعبية ومدى ارتباط افرادها ببعضهم، ونشأه صغارهم معآ متأثرين بهذه الروح، وتجسد هذا الارتباط عندما مرضت إحدى سكان الحارة ودخولها إحدى المستشفيات والتقاق جارتها حولها، ومدى حزنهن عند وفاتها، وإصرار إحدى الجارات على تبنى ولدها الصغير لينمو مع صغيرها ويآخيه، إلا أن أباه قرر الانتقال إلى حى أخر، وتمر السنون ويكبر الصبية، ويتصل أحدهم بالأخر بعد مرور سنوات ليحكى له معاناته، من ضيق ذات اليد بعد أن فقد عمله وضاع رأس ماله فى عملية استثمارية صغيرة، وبالجملة تتعرض الروايه لبعض المثالب فى ظل حكم فاسد جثم على صدر الوطن لسنوات طويلة، وإن خلالها القليل من إيجابيات بعض الأفاراد من البسطاء متمثلا فى ترابطهم إزاء هذه المثالب فى محاولة منهم التغلب على ظروف الحياة الصعبة.
