إن هذا الكتاب سيجيب عن هذه الأسئلة وغيرها مما يتعلق بهذين العِلْمَين اللذين هما أساسٌ محكم لعِلْمَين آخرين وهما: النحو العربي والفقه الإسلامي، وبذلك يكون ربطٌ بين العلوم الإسلامية وعلوم العربية ومدى التفاعل الإيجابي بينهما.
وتأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من أنه ياتي بعد إنقطاع من التأليف في علم أصول النحو، فلا يوجد كتاب أُلِّفَ بعد الإقتراح في أصول النحو للسيوطي المتوفى سنة 911 هجرية سوى هذا الكتاب الذي توفي مؤلفه سنة 1096 هجرية فيكون الإنقطاع قرابة قرنين من الزمن، وقد وجد المؤلف هذا الكتاب محكمَ العبارة، مُتقنَ الإيجاز، شاملاً معظم قضايا أصول النحو، مستمداً من أوثق مصادر هذا الفن، ومؤلفه عالمٌ مُتْقِنٌ، واسعُ الإطلاع، ثاقبُ النظر، قال فيه بعضهم: "إنه سيبويه زمانه"؛ وقد قدم بين يدي الكتاب دراسة شملت مقدمة في أصول النحو وبحثين إحداهما عن المؤلف وثانيهما عن الكتاب.
