يسجل هذا الكتاب رحلة لأداء فريضة الحج انطلاقاً من بلدة الزبير وانتهاء بمكة المكرمة مروراً بالمدينة المنورة، ثم رحلة العودة مرة أخرى، وقد دارت أحداث الرحلة بين عامي 1345/1346هـ، وتميز الكتاب بوصف مراحل الطريق والأماكن التي مر بها، إلى جانب ما دار في الرحلة من مواقف ومشاق وخواطر رصدها المؤلف بشكل دقيق، وقد عبرت تلك الرحلة بشكل واضح عن حالة الأمن الذي استتب في المنطقة بعد توحيدها على يد جلالة الملك عبد العزيز آل سعود غفر الله له.
