يسرد الكاتب الصحفي حمزة هنداوي علي صفحات هذا الكتاب معايشته لأحدي وحدات الجيش الأمريكي التي أنتشرت في بغداد لمدة عام من نهاية 2008 وكانت تقطن بحي "الحرية" ذلك الذي عاش فيه السنة والشيعة العراقيين في سلام لعشرات السنين ليصبح فجأة من المياديين الرئيسية للأقتتال الطائفي منذ منتصف العقد الماضي, أستطاع الكاتب من خلال زياراته المتكررة للوحدة وحضور أجتماعات فادتها مع سكان الحي ونظراءهم من القوات العراقية ومصاحبته لهم في دوريات الأمن في الشوا رع أن يرصد لنا تفاصيل وأجواء محاولات القوات الأمريكية قبل الرحيل لمداواة الجروح العميقة التي تركتها سنوات العنف الطائفي والتي راح ضحيتها عشرات الألاف علاوة علي مئات الألاف الذين خرجوا من جلدهم بحثاً عن الأمان في مناطق أخري من العراق أو خارجة.
ختمها الكاتب برحلة طويلة علي الطائرة من بغداد إلي مقر الوحدة الأمريكية بولاية كالساس الأمريكية حيث كانت الفرصة سانحة لأستكمال تفاصيل المهمة وما أنتهت إليه علاوة علي مشاعر قادة وأفراد الوحدة بعد تمضية عام كامل في العراق.
الكتاب هو الثاني لحمزة هنداوي بعد "معذرة.. متي يأتي الصباح؟" الذي صدر عام 2009 وكان يضم يومياته في بعض أحلك أيام العراق في عامي 2007 و2008.
