العراق بالنسبة لي رحلة استمرت ما يقرب من ست سنوات، عانيت فيها الكثير من الأخطار، والوحشة والعذاب لي ولعائلتي وزوجتي وصغاري الثلاثة، لم يكن الأمر سهلاً علي أو عليهم، وطوال المدة لم تسير مشاعري على وتيرة واحدة من الإحساس بالوحدة، بل تزامن تطور الأحداث في "العرق"، وتنامى مشكلاته مع زيادة إدراك ووعي صغاري بي كأب، ولطبيعة عملي، وسؤال ظل يتردد في أذهانهم وعلى ألسنتهم عن سبب غيابي الطويل والمتكرر عنهم! وكلما طالت رحلاتي زادت أسئلتهم: لماذا؟ ومتى ستعود؟ ومتى ينتهي كل هذا؟.. يومياتي لقطات مفصلة، منفصلة، لما يدور وراء الأحداث الدامية، تهتم في المقام الأول بالإنسان- الأخ، الأخت، الأب، الأم، الخال، العم، كيف يعيشون؟ وقدر ما يتحملون! وهل لازالوا يحملون؟، يومياتي عن هؤلاء، الذين قرروا الاستمرار في الحياة وسط "العراق"- ولم يتركوها- رغم حمامات الدم، والمعاناةالمعيشية، وضيق ذات اليد.
