كما اصطفى - سبحانه وتعالى من الملائكة رسلا ومن الناس كذلك اصطفى أولياءه، وورثهم من ميراث النبيين، كما قال صلى الله عليه وسلم: "العلماء ورثة الأنبياء ، وإن الأنبياء لم يورثوا دينارا ولا درهما ، وإنما ورثوا العلم فمن أخذه أخذ بالحظ الوافر. ومن هؤلاء الورثة : سيدنا الإمام الفاضل الكامل الذي اتفق أهل العلم على انه : "أصل من أصول أهل الحقائق" وعميد من عمداء أهل الورع والزهد : ذو النون المصري الإخميمي ، رضى الله عنه وعنا به فهو حجه من حجج الله وآية من آياته. تحقق بالقرآن والسنة ، فكان أعجوبة الدهر والزمان. أفرد له الحافظ السيوطي هذا الجزء الذي انتقاه من الكتب الصحيحة المعتمدة : كـ "الحلية" للحافظ أبي نعيم الأصبهاني ، و "الزهد" للحافظ البيهقي وغيرهما.
