وعن صناعة المعجم في حياة الدكتور مختار جاءت هذه الدراسة: "جهود الدكتور أحمد مختار عمر المعجمية .. دراسة: وصفية - نقدية"، وقد تناولت فيها معجمين من أهم إنجازاته وهما: - المكنز الكبير (معجم شامل للمجالات والمترادفات والمتضادات)، - المعجم الموسوعي لألفاظ القرآن الكريم وقراءاته - قسم الألفاظ - (ورقي - إلكتروني)، كما دفعني إلى هذه الدراسة شغفي بالمعجم العربي علماً وصناعة، خاصة بعد دراستي لصناعة المعجم على يد الدكتور مختار في كتابه" صناعة المعجم الحديث "لأكثر من مرة، ومن ثم حاولت في هذه الدراسة الوصول إلى: تطبيق المعايير المعجمية التي تحدث عنها الدكتور مختار في كتابه على أرض الواقع من خلال المعجمين محل الدراسة، وتحديد مدى التزام الدكتور مختار برؤيته في صناعة المعجم، ولذلك كثرت في الرسالة الاقتباسات من كتاب "صناعة المعجم" وإيراد الأمثلة بأكملها في المعجمين محل الدراسة في كثير من المواضع، لأن الإحالة إلى المعجمين قد تشرد بالذهن خاصة إذا كان القارئ لا يملكهما أو يملكهما ولكن يريد فقط التركيز على محاور البحث.
