ماذا يقصد تحديداً، بحقوق الإنسان؟ وما هي أهم مصادرها الفكرية؟ وما هو موقف الدول العربية من المواثيق الدولية لحقوق الإنسان، والجهود التي بذلت لوضع ميثاق عربي لحقوق الإنسان، والجهد الشعبي لتأسيس حركة دفاع عن حقوق الإنسان في العالم العربي؟
الإجابة عن كل هذه التساؤلات وغيرها مما له صلة بحقوق الإنسان، هي الهدف الذي نسعى إليه من خلال إعداد هذا البحث. يعرض البحث موضوعه من خلال أربعة فصول، هي على التوالي: الفصل الأول، ونخصصه لإلقاء الضوء على حقوق الإنسان وتطور الاهتمام بها. وأما الفصل الثاني، فيعكف التحليل فيه على بيان مفهوم حقوق الإنسان مع التركيز، بصفة خاصة، على بيان الملامح العامة التي يتصف بها، ونعرض من خلالها أيضاً التصنيفات المختلفة لحقوق الإنسان بحسب تطورها التاريخي. وأما الفصل الثالث، فنخصصه لإلقاء الضوء على حقوق الإنسان في الوطن العربي. وأما الفصل الرابع والأخير، فسنحاول من خلاله عرض الدور الذي تضطلع به وسائل الإعلام والتعليم في هذا المجال.
