برغم التطور التكنولوجي والعلمي الكبير وإدخال الحاسوب في التعليم وعلى الرغم من كل العلوم الحديثة إلا أن الرياضيات تبقى أم العلوم وهي الأساس لكل علم من العلوم والأهم من ذلك تدريسها فتدريس الرياضيات من أصعب أنواع التدريس من حيث المعلم وتأهيله في التدريس وعلم الرياضيات وتطوير الطالب ليصل إلى أعلى مستوى في فهم الرياضيات ليتكون لديه الحس الرياضي الذي يستطيع استخدامه في حياته العملية، من هنا جاء هذا الكتاب ليعرض أساليب تدريس الرياضيات والذي وضع الكاتب فيه جهده ليكون خدمة لكل طالب علم ومدرس يحتاج إليه في تطوير مهاراته التدريسية فوحدته الأولى تتحدث عن ماهية الرياضيات والتطور التاريخي للرياضيات في زمن المصريين القدماء والإغريق والبابليين واسهامات العرب والمسلمين في الرياضيات أما وحدته الثانية فتتحدث عن نظريات التعلم والنظريات التربوية المعروفة مثل نظرية بياجيه وبرونز، والوحدة الرابعة تتحدث عن موضوعين مهمين جداً في تدريس الرياضيات هما طرق التدريس وتتناول هذه الوحدة طرق متعددة للتدريس واستراتيجيات التدريس مثل استراتيجيات تدريس المفاهيم والتعميميات والوحدة الخامسة تتحدث عن تدريس بعض مواضيع الرياضيات مثل مجموعات الأعدادو الجبر والهندسة، أما السادسة فتتحدث عن حل المسألة لأهميتها الكبرى في تدريس الرياضيات حيث نتعرف على خطوات الحل وعناصر المسألة بالإضافة إلى الصعوبات التي تواجه الطلاب في حل المسألة والوحدة الأخيرة تتحدث عن التقويم والاختبارات في الرياضيات حيث نتعرف على التقويم وأهدافه وصفاته وأساليبه والاختبارات وأنواعها وتصحيح الاختبار.
