كانت انتفاضة الأقصى عام 2000 من الأهمية إلى الدرجة التي تبرر وصفها بأنها واحدة من الأحداث التي يصح بشأنها القول أن لها ما قبلها وما بعدها، إذ ألقت تلك الانتفاضة بالكثير من التداعيات على مجريات العديد من الأمور والقضايا بحيث أصبح من المنطقي عند تناول أي من تلك الأمور والقضايا بالدراسة والتحليل أن يؤخذ بعين الاعتبار ما إذا كان ذلك قد حدث قبل أم بعد الانتفاضة، وفيما يتصل بالعلاقات العربية الإسرائيلية، فإن حالها قد اختلف بلا شك قبل الانتفاضة عن حالها بعد الانتفاضة، فالانتفاضة إن لم تكن محطة مفصلية في مسيرة تلك العلاقات، فإنها على الأقل واحدة من أهم المحطات في مسيرة تلك العلاقات.
في هذا السياق، نبعت الفكرة الأساسية لهذا المشروع وذلك بهدف تتبع التغيرات والتطورات الأساسية التي شهدتها العلاقات الإسرائيلية العربية عبر عشر سنوات بدءا بانتفاضة الأقصى خلال الفترة الممتدة من عام 2000، ومرورا بما حدث من حروب في عامي 2006 بلبنان و2008 بغزة، وانتهاء بما وصلت إليه عملية التسويى السلمية للصراع الفلسطيني الإسرائيلي في ظل حكومة بنيامين نيتنياهو الثانية، وبعد تولي الرئيس باراك أوباما الرئاسة في الولايات المتحدة، يحاول الكتاب أن يجيب على سؤال أساسي، ما هي انعكاسات انتفاضة الأقصى والتطورات الرئيسية التي مر بها النظام الإقليمي العربي بشأن عملية التسوية السلمية للصراع العربي الإسرائيلي على علاقات الدول العربية بإسرائيل، سواء كان ذلك على المستوى السياسي أو الاقتصادي أو الثقافي.
