يعد كتاب "النبأ اليقين عن العلويين" للشيخ محمود الصالح من أوثق الكتب بين مؤلفات (العلويين)، يحتوي الكتاب على العقائد من أصول الدين عند العلويين (التوحيد والنبوة والمعاد) كما يحتوي على أصول المذهب الجعفري مثل (الإمامة والعدل) وغيرها من الموضوعات التي تدخل في صلب العقيدة مثل الجبر والتفويض والتناسخ والولاء لأهل البيت وسواها من العادات والتقاليد.
وقد أوضح محقق الكتاب الشيخ محمد حسن بادياني النيسابوري شرحه للكتاب بقوله: "بدأت وضحت مواضيع التوحيد والنبوة والمعاد من أصول الدين، والعدل والإمامة من أصول المذهب الجعفري وبعضاً من الفروع والأحكام الدينية الضرورية لكل مسلم ومسلمة خاصة لإتباع أهل البيت، بهدف تعلمها والعمل بها وفق مدرسة الإمام جعفر الصادق".
تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كونه يميط اللثام عن معتقد هذه الطائفة (العلويين) ويكشف الغبن الذي تعرض له بعض المؤرخين عن تاريخها، فأظهر المؤلف مآثر رجالها بالأقوال، والأفعال، وكشف عن أنساب شعبها للقول أنهم انحدروا من أصول عربية عريقة، كما وثق لحوادث الأيام الخوالي ومجرياتها الغابرة، وحرر الفكر من إطار النظرة الموروثة إلى هذه الفئة العربية المسلمة...
وكما يقول الله تعالى في محكم تنزيله: ﴿إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ﴾ ما يعني أن الإيمان بالله تعالى وملائكته وكتبه ورسله هو خير تعبير عن المسلم الحقيقي أياً كان مذهبه...
فقد أتحفني الدهر بقراءة (النبأ اليقين) لمؤلفه الشيخ (محمود الصالح) الزللو فوجدته كاسمه سراجا لمن نظر، ونورا لمن تبصر، أشرق على أفق الوجود وسطع على عالم الكون، والحق يحمل في نفسه دليل حقيقته.
