واستهل الكتاب بمقدمة لجيوفانى بامبنينى عن مفهوم التربية المقارنة وأهميتها فى منطقة حوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط. وناقشت ميليتا كريستالدى بعض المشكلات التى تواجه دول حوض البحر المتوسط وخاصة مشاكل الهجرة من الدول المختلفة إلى بلدان البحر المتوسط. وكما قدم خليل أبو رجيله فى ورقته حالة بنان كنموذج لدول البحر الأبيض المتوسط من خلال عرض لتاريخها ودور التعليم فى لبنان.
