وجد الكاتب - بحسه العربي الإسلامي العميق وعروبته الفياضة وإسلامه الصادق - لكل الأمم العظيمة ملاحم تصور بطولاتها منذ ملحمة جلجاميش وملحمة الإلياذة والأوديسة وملحمة الإيثارة وملحمة مهاباهارتا وملحمة الشاهنامة، ولم يجد للعرب ملحمة تصور بطولاتهم وحروبهم وانتصاراتهم وانكسارتهم فأخذ على عاتقه وضع هذه الملحمة التي قدم لها بحث عميق ودراسة شاملة وقطع فيها أشواطاً إلا أن القدر لم يمهله حتى يتمها إذ توفى رحمه الله في 23/3/1972 وقد نشرت بعض حلقاتها في مجلة قافلة الزيت خلال حياته ونشرت بعض الحلقات بعد وفاته وقد عثرنا بين أوراقه على حلقات لم تنشر فتوفرنا على إدراجها، فهذا الكتاب هو محاولة جادة لإخراج (ملحمة عربية إسلامية).
