هذه حاشية الشهاب الخفاجي على تفسير الإمام البيضاوي "أنور التنزيل وأسرار التأويل" وهي من أعظم الحواشي فائدة وأكثرها نفعاً وأسهلها عبارة، وقد قال الشهاب في مقدمة حاشيته: "نظمتها في سلك التحرير عقداً، واجتهدت في أن أقلد بها جيد هذا العصر العاطل تقليداً، فجاءت مواردها صافية من الكدر ورياضها محروسة بعين القضاء والقدر"، فجاءت هذه الحاشية كما قال.
ولا بد هنا من كلمة حول تفسير الإمام البيضاوي، فننقل ما قاله حاجي خليفة في كشف الظنون. قال: "وتفسيره هذا كتاب عظيم الشأن غني عن البيان، لخص فيه من الكشاف ما يتعلق بالإعراب والمعاني والبيان، ومن التفسير الكبير ما يتعلق بالحكمة والكلام، ومن تفسير الراغب ما يتعلق بالاشتقاق وغوامض الحقائق ولطائف الإشارات. وضم إليه ما ورى زناد فكره من الوجود المعقول والتصرفات المقبولة فجلا رين الشك عن السريرة وزاد في العلم بسطة وبصيرة".
قال: "ولكونه متبحراً جال في ميدان فرسان الكلام فأظهر مهارته في العلوم حسبما يليق بالمقام، كشف القناع تارة عن وجوه محاسن الإشارة وملح الاستعارة، وهتك أستار أخرى ممن أسرار المعقولات بيد الحكمة ولسانها وترجمان الناطقة وبنانها، فحل ما أشكل على الأنام، وذلل لهم صعب المرام وأورد في المباحث الدقيقة ما يؤمن به عن الشبه المضلة، وأوضح له مناهج الأدلة...".
تفسير البيضاوي كتاب عظيم الشأن له مكانة مهمة وعظيمة بين كتب تفسير القرآن العظيم. وهذه حاشية للقاضي الشهاب الخفاجي شرح فيها تفسير البيضاوي شرحا وافيا ومطولا حلل فيه عبارات البيضاوي ووضحها خاصة في الأمور اللغوية والأحكام الفقهية وهذه طبعة مضبوطة مخرجة الآيات والأحاديث.
