في هذا الكتاب كل ما نريد معرفته عن الملابس وكل ما يتعلق بها. فهو يتناولها اولا بنشأة الحضارة وتطورها وتطور النسيج معها من طبيعي إلى نسيج صناعي أيضا طرق الغزل المختلفة سواء بأدوات او ماكينات ما أن ينتهي من التعريف بالمنسوجات حتى يبدأ بنشأة الملابس منذ قديم العصور فنجد الملابس الفرعونية بدولها القديمة والوسطى والحديثة والعراق القديم سوماريين وبابليين وآشوريين وأيضا أزياء وملابس ايران القديم ثم ينتقل بعد ذلك إلى العصور اليونانية والاغريقية والعصر الكلاسيكي والروماني ثم البيزنظي وصولا إلى العصر الاسلامي بدوله المختلفة من عباس وطولوني وفاطمي ومملوكي وغيرها وحتى العصر العثماني يبدأ في الفصل الخامس حديثة عن الازياء في اوربا في عصورها الوسطى حتى القرن الخامس عشر ثم يبدأ من السادس عشر حتى القرن العشرين متناولا تلك الفترة بالتفصيل يتميز الكتاب بان الشرح والصور متوازنان لا يكثر احدهما على الاخر فلا يتم شرح جزء إلا وقد أبدته الصور المختلفة لأزياء الرجال والنساء والاطفال بالاضافة إلى شرح وافي تحت كل صورة. معا إلى هذا العرض للأزياء فمتدا بطول التاريخ وعرضه.
