لاحظتُ في هذا الكتاب أن "الشاهد" جورج القسيس أحد أبرز قادة حزب الكتائب اللبنانية، لم يغرق لا في التقريظ ولا في التجريح. كان همّ جورج القسيس الوحيد، في فوضى الحرب والمعارك التي كانت دائرة، أن يحلّل ما يجري انطلاقًا من معطيات معيشة ومحسوسة. فكانت لديه الجرّأة والصراحة كي يضع النقاط على الحروف في انتقاد مَن ينبغي أن يَنتقِد وما يجب أن يُنتقَد وكلّ ذلك ليس بقصد الحطّ من قدر أحد أو من قيمة فكرةٍ ما، بل بهدف المساعدة على وعي الحال وتصويب النهج خصوصًا إذا ما سبّب أو سيسبّب السلوك المقصود شرخًا بين السلاح وبين رفاق السياسة. كان يحزّ في قلبه لدى مشاهدته انشقاق الرفاق ويؤلمه كثيرًا عدم تمكّنه من رأب صدع هذا الانشقاق. هذه "الشهادة" التي صدرت في جزئها الأول تحت عنوان "يوميات شاهدة" هي بمثابة تكريم ووفاء لأبطالٍ مجهولين/معلومين بذلوا حياتهم في سبيل إنقاذ الوطن.
