يضم هذا الكتاب بين طياته دراسة نقدية لسينية البحري " صنت نفسي عما يدنس نفسي ... جبس" حيث اعتمد المؤلف في تدوين القصيدة ديوان البحتري ط. دار بيروت للطباعة والنشر – بيروت 1983م، واستأنس بديوان البحتري ت. حسن كامل الصيرفي (دار المعارف بمصر 1963م)، وبما أورده ياقوت الحموي من القصيدة في معجم الأدباء (مطبوعات دار المأمون – القاهرة) 19: 248 وما بعدها.
واعتمد على أمات كتب النقد الأدبي والبلاغة ومصادر التراث العربي والمعاجم وذلك لعبور النص لغة – كما ينبغي له أن يعبر – كما يتتبعه القارىء في سياقه في المتون والحواشي.
وقد حاول أن يكون إعراب النص شاملا ًكيما يقدم مع المادة التذوقية صورة لما أنا بصدده من الرؤية الفنية للنص الشعري ونسيجه اللغوي.
