قام الصديق الشاعر عبد اللطيف اللعبي بترجمة هذه المجموعة إلى الفرنسية تحت عنوان "لا حيّ، لا ميّت" وصدرت عن منشورات الدانتي، طبعة أولى 1997، وطبعة ثانية 2012.
الترجمة الفرنسية لهذه المجموعة كانت واحداً من الأسباب التي أوصلتني إلى جائزة "هلمان / هامَّت" 1998، وجائزة نادي القلم الأمريكي 1999، وكنت ما أزال حينها في السجن.
لاحقاً قامت المترجمة "إيلينا كيتي" بترجمة هذه المجموعة إلى الإيطالية عام 2017، ما أوصلني إلى جائزة مهرجان فيرتشيلّى.
مع كل ذلك فإنني للأسف لم أستطع، بعد خروجي من السجن، العثور على نسخ من هذه المجموعة، بإستثناء نسختين احتفظ لي بهما الصديق الفنان يوسف عبدلكي.
إذاً ليس مبالغة ولا مغالطة لو قلت إني أعتبر هذه الطبعة هي الطبعة الأولى العلنية والمعممة والمنسوبة إلى دار نشر محددة، أعني دار خطوط، فطبعة عام 1997 لم تتضمن أي إشارة إلى اسم الناشر، وإني ألتمس لذلك أعذاراً متعددة أخطرها وقوع لبنان حينها تحت وطأة احتلال مباشر وفظ من قِبَل جيوش الأسد.
مذّاك تغيرت أشياء كثيرة، وعبرت تحت قناطر الزمن مياه ودماء ودموع كثيرة أيضاً، غير أن الشعر في السجن، كما قبله وبعده، كان وما زال بالنسبة لي هو طائر الحرية الأجمل، وهو التمرين الأقصى على الحرية.
