يستحل بعض الناس اللهو واللعب ، تارة بممارسة ألعاب ، وتارة بالمشاركة في مسابقات بزعم أن في ذلك تسلية للوقت ، وراحة للذهن ، ومتعة للنفس ، حتى لو أدى ذلك إلى شغلهم عن ذكر الله وضياع حقوق الأسرة أو التقصير في العمل أو التفريط في أداء الواجب وأداء حق المجتمع . وقد أشكل على كثير من الناس حكم هذه الألعاب أو المسابقات ، وظنوا أن الميسر لا يكون إلا في العقود ظنا منهم أن القمار لا يكون إلا في اللعب بآلات الميسر كالنرد وغيره ، وغاب عن ذهن هؤلاء أن المسابقات الحاصلة يمكن أن تدخل في باب القمار ، وأن أي مسابقة يدخل فيها المال تدخل تلقائيا في باب الميسر ، كما غاب عنهم أن كثيرا من المسابقات إذا أدت إلى ضرر ما فإنها تدخل ضمن الألعاب المحرمة . من أجل ذلك جاء هذا الكتاب الذي بين موقف الإسلام من لعب الميسر ، وبين حكم ما خفي على بعض الناس من أحكام الميسر ، موضحا الفرق بين الميسر والقمار ، وذلك من خلال إثبات الحكم بأدلته الشرعية من الكتاب والسنة والإجماع والقياس ، مع مراعاة الصدق والحق مبتعدا عن التعصب والهوى والتميز .
