هذا الكتاب ألفه صاحبه الفقيه العالم أبو عبد الله محمد بن برهان الدين إبراهيم بن علي بن فرحون المدني، وأراده أن يكون تذكرة له وقد جمع مسائله من مطالعاته ومن مجالس مشايخه ومصنفات والده. وقد جاءت المسائل غير مرتبة على أبواب الفقه بل مخلطة بحسب الاتفاق. والكتاب يعد من كتب الفقه وإن كان ليس من الكتب الموصوفة المعروفة-وهو كعمل احتواء طائفة كبيرة من المسائل والموضوعات المختلفة كما أنه كتاب حاوٍ للنظائر في المذهب المالكي.
وقد جاء نقله عن كتب لم تعد متوفرة في وقتنا الحاضر ومن هنا تنبع أهميته وأصل هذا الكتاب نسخ اثنتان منها مصورتان على الميكروفيلم، ونسخة أخرى بتونس، اعتمد المحقق على نسختين دار الكتب المصرية فعمد إلى ضبط المتن وبعد أن قام بنسخة وفق خط الإملاء المتعارف عليه في زماننا، كما رقم مسائلها وصنفها وجعلها في فقرات متباينة وعمد إلى الأخطاء فأصلحها قدر ما أمكن بالمقارنة مع المصادر التي نقلت منها المسائل فعلّق على بعض المسائل تعليقات طفيفة خشية إثقال النص ووضع فهرساً للمسائل المذكورة بالكتاب وفهارس بأسماء المصادر التي نقلت المسائل منها.
