سقط زمن الوصاية، لكن اليوم كما قبله، ما تزال الدولة اللبنانية هشة لأن نظامها السياسي ما يزال عاجزاً عن وضع ولاء اللبنانيين لها فوق أي انتماء آخر، مما يبقي لبنان ساحة مفتوحة على صراعات إقليمية ودولية كثيرة. هو ما يزال ورقة في المفاوضات السورية الإسرائيلية، لا بل صار ورقة في المواجهة الإيرانية الأميركية وورقة في العلاقات السعودية السورية والسعودية الإيرانية وجمراً تحت رماد فتنى سنية شيعية في المنطقة.
وهكذا، ينبغي للبنانيين أكثر من أي يوم مضى، أن يختاروا بين أن يصبح لبنان دولة لهم جميعاً أو يبقونه ساحة. الطريق إلى الدولة تبدو الأصعب لكنها بالتأكيد الأقل كلفة، وإن بدت في ذلك مفارقة. وهي لها شرطان متلازمان: إصلاح النظام السياسي بنا يسمح للبنانيين بتجاوز انقساماتهم المذهبية والطائفية، وإقامة علاقات سوية مع سوريا على أساس معادلة واضحة طالما كررها الأستاذ غسان تويني: لبنان لا يحكم من سوريا، ولا يحكم ضد سوريا.
