طريق القلب الرواية التي بين أيدينا تعتبر تاريخاً أدبياً لمرحلة الستينيات من القرن الماضي بكل خيبباتها. وهي تحكي عن رجل في الثلاثين من عمره يرحل إلى الشرق بحثاً عن المعرفة والروحانية والسعادة التي أنكرها عليه الغرب. يرحل ويخلّف وراءه امراة تقاسم معها كل شيء: الأحلام وخيبات الستينات على أمل العودة مع عام جديد ومولود جديد. يجوب تركيا وإيران وباكستان والهند ونيبال وأندونيسيا وفييتنام وأفغانستان. هناك يكتشف الغرب في الشرق، حيث يلتقي بشخصيات متناقضة يتعلم منها، كما هو حال القنصل الإسباني في استانبول والمشاء المانتشي والتاجر الصوفي وكوماري كاتمندو والثنائي اللاتيني والصحافي الأرجنتيني. إنها الشصخيات التي تصقله وتعطي للحياة تنوعاً واختلافاً. وحين يقرر العودة ليلتقي برفيقته وأم ولده ينتصب القدر مأساوياً، يصله خبر وفاتها، قبل أن يخرج من آسيا. إنها خروج من البؤس وعودة إليه.
حصلت هذه الرواية على جائزة بلانيتا للعام 1990، وهي تعتبر من الأعمال الأدبية الرفيعة المستوى في الثقافة الإسبانية.
