يُشكل الخطاب الافتتاحي لرواية «ويبقى شيء في القلب» للكاتبة فاطمة علي مبارك الكواري بمثابة العتبة الأولى لفتح مقاصد النص السردي: "حينما تمتلك قلباً قاسياً.. ترافقه نفسٌ دنيئة.. يسهلان عليك ظلم الناس.. يرافقهما ضمير ميت.. لا يؤرقك ليلاً على ما تفعل.. فعلى الأقل.. ابتعد عن الأقارب.. فحينها.. لن تغدو ظالماً فحسب.. بل تغدو وغداً". وانطلاقاً من هذه الـ (كلمة) التي تلخص حياة بطلة الرواية وحكايتها.. تبدأ الكاتبة في تأثيث نصها الروائي. هي حكاية "هاجر" التي فقدت والديها، وانتقلت للعيش في بيت عمها باعتباره أصبح ولياً لأمرها. فوجدت نفسها ضحية للظروف والأفكار الاجتماعية السائدة التي تحتم عليها الزواج من ابن عمها "أسامة" وهكذا أصبحت بين ليلة وضحاها زوجةً لا رأي لها فعرفت أنها ضحية مؤامرة عمها للاستيلاء على ممتلكاتها. تخضع "هاجر" لهذا الزواج وتتعامل بذكاء مع الوضع الجديد، ريثما تجد مخرجاً لحريتها، وكان السبيل إلى حريتها وطلاقها هو عملها الذي سوف يحمل إليها حباً جديداً، قبل أن تكتشف أنها أصبحت أماً، فكان عليها الاختيار بين الأمومة والحب... هكذا هي الحياة "ليس هناك وقت مناسب للحب"، أو أن "الحب ليس له أوان". في هذه الرواية نجحت الكاتبة فاطمة علي مبارك الكواري في رسم صورة الكيان الأنثوي في شخصيته واستقلاله، وذلك عندما أخرجت أنثاها من دائرة السلطة الذكورية وعملت على إثبات ذاتها من خلال إقصاء الرجل عن حياتها.
