ويمكن القول أن القرية المصرية وما يحوطها من أراضى زراعية تكون نظاما بينيا ورث عددا من المشاكل البيئية القديمة ثم طرأ عليه عددا آخر من المشاكل البيئية الحديثة التى صاحبت الزراعة ووسائلها. وتتصل المشاكل البيئية القديمة بالمستوى العام للنظام أى تراكم المخلفات الصلبة من البقايا والمخلفات العضوية كما تتصل بما تحمله البيئة من مصادر بيئية خاصة كارتباط البلهارسيا بالبيئة فى الترع والمصارف حيث تكون القراقع التى يستكمل فيها الحيوان المسبب للمرض دورة حياته وتتصل كذلك ببعض أنماط السلوك مثل مشاركة الحيوان لصاحبة فى السكن وهذا التجاور القريب بين الحيوان والأنسان يسمح بانتقال انواع خاصة من الأمراض من الحيوان الى الانسان.
