أفراح الصعيد الشعبية كتاب يعني بالفرح الشعبي ويتناول نصوص غناء البنات الصغيرات، وأغنيات الخطبة، والأغنيات المصاحبة لطقوس الزواج كالحنة والدخلة والصباحية، وأغنيات تصاحب طقس (السبوع) والميلاد، ثم الأغنيات المصاحبة لطقوس الختان إلأخ.. وكل هذا أبدعته وتغنيه النساء أو البنات الصغيرات ثم تأتي هذه المحاولة مع لون آخر من ألوان الإبداع النسائي الخالص، وهو ما يسمي بالحنين مدح النبي أو أغاني الحج والزيارة وأعني تلك الأغنيات التي تغنيها النساء تعبيراً عن مشاعرهن قبيل الرحلة، وأثناء الرحلة، وبعد الرحلة المقدسة وكان من الطبيعي أن تحتفي تلك الأغاني بالمرأة نظراً لظروف الرحلة المقدسة قديماً. فقد كان حج المرأة حتى عهد قريب يؤرخ في القرى لكن هذا الإحتفاء بالمرأة في أغاني الحج والزيارة لا يقص مضامين الأغنيات على ذات المرأة، فالمرأة أم وزوجة وإبنة وأخت، لهذا سنجد بعض الأغنيات تتحدث عن الرجال المودعين والمنتظرين والحجاج.
وقد ورد الكتاب في جزأين: (الأول: يقدم للموضوع من الناحية النظرية فيقدم مقاربة "لغوية تاريخية دينية إجتماعية" لشعيرة الحج والزيارة، ثم نجتهد في التقعيد "لبنية الحنين الشعرية والإيقاعية"، والثاني: يتناول النصوص مرتبطة بالطقوس التي تشير إلي مرتبة ترتيباً زمانياً).
